Episode 251 – **WARNING – SOME VERY VERY SLIGHT SPOILERS** This time I take a focused review at Bloodstained Ritual of the Night for PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC. I also take a quick look at Bloodstained Curse of the Moon. These are both great homages to classic-style and Metrodvania-style Castlevania games!

Here’s Game Sack’s Bloodstained announcement video which was released the day the Kickstarter was announced –

I really couldn't stand Curse of the Moon personally. The controls are just too stiff and I didn't get any enjoyment out of the combat or platforming. However, I never played a Castlevania game before in my life, so I don't think the game was made for me to begin with.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Crash for PS4…. the only game I have a PS4 for is the only game I've ever played that crashes constantly.

I agree with you on the whip not being all that great in Ritual of the Night but I have to say there is an exception to that. The Andromeda was awesome. It homed in on enemies!

Yeah this game was awesome. It was one of the first, if not the first I got after I first started gaming on PC after not playing any games for like a decade and it was so much fun. I still think back on it quite a bit and will probably go back through it again any time now.

I've been playing for about 6 hours, and I honestly can't think of a single thing wrong with this game. It's the first "metroidvania" that I've been able to play without issue. It was on sale for 20 us dollars. I would pay 60 happily!

Back in the day you made the review I was Still waiting for my Kickstarter copy of the game to arrive. I do not wanted to be spoiled.
I kept my PS4 offline since day one, so I played the game 1.0.
I beated the game and I REALLY LOVED IT.
Unlike you, I played the game for about 90 hours before I was able to get the 100%. 8-bit nightmare was brutally hard, I died at least 30 times in there.
And it played just fine, with no bugs at all.
Last week Bloodstained Ritual Of the Night reached the 1 million games sold…

    I concur.
RotN is very far from rotten.
It's the metroidvania I've been waiting for.
    Almost.
Still looking for a "super Metroid" like this.
    Come TF on Nintendo!!!

Great looking game, visually stunning. It looks to have taken elements from Castlevania, Devil May Cry & maybe a little bit of Strider. Love it!
