Rain considers role in Chuno writer’s next drama

Rain (aka Jung Ji-hoon) has been teasing us for months about a possible drama comeback, and now it has been announced that he’s currently in talks regarding Chuno writer Chun Sung-il’s next project.

On April 5, a senior rep from Rain’s management company revealed that the star is considering several scripts, among them writer Chun’s Runaway [???, a working title]. (Side note: With a title like “Runaway,” Chun is probably inviting lots of comparisons to Chuno, even if the drama turns out to be a modern-day piece as he has alluded.) Rain’s rep said, “He is definitely in discussions about taking the role, but it’s too early to say anything for sure right now.” (While cautious responses are common in this scenario, it’s a more positive statement than the usual blanket denials that follow a casting rumor…)

Rain is making his comeback as a singer with the special album “Back to the Basic.” If his plans unfold as announced and Rain makes his television comeback by October of this year (as he posted on his homepage last month), it will be 5 years since his last drama role in 2005’s A Love To Kill.

Wonder Girls cancel tour after Sun Mi announces departure

Wonder Girls cancel tour after Sun Mi announces departure February 04, 2010 Wonder Girls The Korean pop group Wonder Girls have cancelled their headlining. Tour of the United States, which was supposed to start at the end of February. It seems all of these decisions were made after one of their members, the 18-year-old Sun Mi, called it quits last month to return to school. The CEO of the company that manages the group, JYP Entertainment’s Park Jin-young, first cancelled the U.S. tour and postponed their U.S. debut album release for April. “The upcoming tour wasn’t going as planned and postponing their U.S. album release was an inevitable situation,” said a spokesman from JYP Entertainment. Park’s decisions for the temporary break are seen as a way to give the 18-year-old Hye Rim, Sun Mi’s replacement, time to ease in to performing with the group. According to Park, they plan to resume their original plans after she’s completely adjusted. Wonder Girls new member Hye Rim After they finished a promotional tour in China, Hye Rim went to the U.S. on Feb. 2 with the rest of the Wonder Girls to begin working on their new album. Sun Mi is currently getting ready to leave the U.S., and will head back to Korea after her final performance with the group on the 20th in Long Island, New York’s Nassau Coliseum for the Pop-Con Concert.
